A wise man once said “If you don’t take care of your body, where exactly are you planning on living?”

Something important to think about I would say!!

We’re running around in our Jimmy Choo’s, trotting away our Prada’s, draping our Manish Malhotra’s, typing away on our Mac Book and posing our way to Snap chat. At the end of the day we’ve only got an ankle sprain from the shoes, a backache from the heavy bags and a writer’s cramp from the all the typing.

How much of your day was devoted to your body? Why don’t we dwell on how our bodies are doing? What its needs are. What it wants from us and why it acts the way it does.

Let me explain. So, there was this farmer who had a swamp formation in the middle of his field. This attracted mosquitoes that were destroying his plants. His first approach was to spray off the mosquitoes with some insect repellents. To his satisfaction the mosquitoes disappeared, only to breed themselves into stronger mosquitoes that were resistant to the spray now. They came back again with vengeance. So he got himself an even stronger spray, which managed to extinguish these new mosquitoes. But a while later those mosquitoes too acquired resistance to the new spray. This went on for months until the day came when there was no spray that could be used to kill them. This new breed of mosquitoes was more toxic and lethal than ever before. He ultimately lost his field to them!

What seemed to be the problem here? Wasn’t there a simpler solution to it all?

All he had to do was keep his farm clean and wash away that swamp. If, he had paid attention to having a healthier farm he wouldn’t have had to deal with the mosquitoes to begin with.

Every time you treat your body with antibiotics you create a more resistant variety of bacteria which then becomes even more difficult to combat.

We will through a series of articles discuss how you can clean your swamp and protect your body without having to use treatments that do more harm than good to you.

Jonas Salk, with both eloquence and simplicity, once stated that there are two primary approaches to treating ill people. He said that there are therapeutic techniques that directly impact specific symptoms, and there are methods that stimulate the body’s own immune and defense system.

Medications, antibiotics, antispasmodics, anti-pyretics and anti-inflammatory are not the solution to your problems. The solution lies in finding a way to keep your immune system up and stimulate it to a point where your body can fight the ailments off by itself, with a little help from you here and there.

Our 37.2 trillion cell human body – made by the way from just 2 teeny tiny cells to begin with has way too much intelligence to heal itself.

Toward the end of Louis Pasteur’s life, he too came to realize that germs may not be the cause of disease after all, but instead are probably the results of disease.

To simplify, you fall prey to outwardly infections when you are internally sick. You become the swamp that attracts diseases.

Haven’t you noticed that taking medications for a particular problem has only invited more disease and not even cured the ailment you started taking treatment for?

Whereas conventional medical treatments today tend to focus on the former goal of treating or controlling symptoms, various natural therapeutics primarily attend to the latter goal of augmenting the person’s own inherent defences. Although the direct treatment of symptoms often has immediate effects, its benefits tend to be short-term. Because such therapeutic interventions do not usually strengthen the person’s own defences, the individual remains prone to recurrence of their problem.

In contrast, therapeutic methods that strengthen a person’s immune and defence system have long-term benefits and can prevent recurrence.

I am here talking about Homoeopathy; a 200 year old, tried, tested and now scientifically proved method of healing.

Great Britain’s Royal Family, Mahatma Gandhi, John D. Rockefeller, Sr., Tina Turner, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Whoopi Goldberg, Pamela Anderson, Jane Fonda, Cher, Rosie O’Donnell, Martin Sheen, the Chili Peppers, Ashley Judd, Naomi Judd, and England’s Ex-Prime Minister Tony Blair don’t have much in common, except for the fact that they all have been strong supporters of homoeopathic medicine.

The history of homoeopathy begins with the discoveries of its founder Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), a German physician. He grew sick and tired of the prevailing methods of practice of simply suppressing whatever symptoms the body was trying to express. He knew this wasn’t treating anything and in fact doing more harm. 200 years later conventional treatment still follows the same principle.

Homoeopathy is a sophisticated medical science, which individualizes a patient based on his/her individual traits. Homoeopathy treats the patient and not the disease as we target boosting your immune system to help you fight off this disease.

There isn’t one set of medicines per disease. There could be 1000 medicines for headaches. Which one will you get will be based on several factors. So a Homoeopath will enquire into your overall state of health, your eating habits, your sleeping habits, your personality, your life situation and practically everything that individualizes you from the other 999 patients with the same complaint. Hence the term Holistic Healing! Your stomach doesn’t need a gastroenterologist, your legs a rheumatologist and your mind a psychiatrist. You are ONE body and you need to be treated as one. One, that is different from all the others, one who has his/her own peculiarities, own quirkiness and own awesomeness.

The beauty of the principle of similars is that it not only initiates a healing response, but it encourages a respect for the body’s wisdom.

Methods that simply suppress, control, or manage symptoms should be avoided since such therapies compromise the innate tendency of the organism to defend and heal itself. The side effects, which these suppressive treatments cause, are actually direct effects of the treatment.

To give you an example when you take paracetamol for your fever you simply force your body to sweat, which thereby reduces the temperature. But what happened to addressing the cause of the fever?? So after a few hours, the fever is back again to try to tell you something is still wrong, something which needs addressing. The fever is merely the representative of what is wrong and not in essence what is wrong. But, we only see the fever, go into panic mode as though it is something catastrophic and immediately attack our body with doses of paracetamol and antibiotics into doing something it isn’t comfortable doing in the first place. Killing your body’s bacteria isn’t the answer, especially in cases where your body would by itself have built up enough fighter cells and gotten rid of the infection within a few days.

Homoeopathic medicines, on the other hand, are prescribed to aid the organism in its highly sophisticated efforts to heal. Inherent in the homoeopathic approach is a basic respect for the body’s wisdom; it is thus no wonder that it is a safer medicine.

In 1991, three professors of medicine from the Netherlands, none of them homoeopaths, performed a meta-analysis of 25 years of clinical studies using homoeopathic medicines and published their results in the British Medical Journal. This meta-analysis covered 107 controlled trials, of which 81 showed that homoeopathic medicines were effective.

At a time in our civilization when it is essential to develop practices that strengthen the immune and defence system, homoeopathic medicine is quite naturally gaining popularity.

The science and art of homoeopathy embody what many people envisioned as a 21st century medicine. Homoeopathy is a medical approach that respects the wisdom of the body. It is an approach that utilizes medicines that stimulate the body’s own immune and defence system to initiate the healing process. It is an approach that individualizes medicines according to the totality of the person’s physical, emotional, and mental symptoms. It is an approach that is widely recognized to be safe. And it is an approach that can be potentially very effective in treating the new types of diseases that are afflicting us now in the 21st century.
